Deeside Dragons: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement
Deeside Dragons: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement
At the Deeside Dragons, we believe our club should be more than just an ice hockey team. We want The Den to be a place where people feel welcome, respected, safe and part of something positive.
As a volunteer-run, not-for-profit ice hockey club based in Deeside, North Wales, we are proud to bring together players, coaches, volunteers, supporters, families, sponsors and members of the wider community. Everyone who walks through our doors should feel that they belong.
Our Commitment to Equality
The Deeside Dragons believe that everyone should have the opportunity to be involved in the club, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, background, income, or personal circumstances.
We are committed to treating people fairly and with respect across every part of the club, including players, volunteers, supporters, sponsors, staff, families and visitors.
Our Commitment to Diversity
We recognise that our club is stronger when it reflects the wider community around us. Different experiences, backgrounds, ideas and perspectives help make the Deeside Dragons a better club, both on and off the ice.
We want to continue building a club where people from all walks of life feel able to get involved, whether that is by playing, volunteering, supporting, sponsoring, or simply attending their first ever ice hockey game.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
Inclusion means more than opening the doors. It means making sure people feel welcome once they are here.
We want The Den to be a friendly, family-focused and respectful environment where people feel comfortable being themselves. We encourage positive behaviour, kindness, respect and community spirit at every level of the club.
We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying, harassment, abuse, or behaviour that makes others feel unsafe or unwelcome.
Looking Ahead
We know that equality, diversity and inclusion is not a box-ticking exercise. It is something we must keep learning from, improving on and building into the way we operate as a club.
As the Deeside Dragons continue to grow, we will keep reviewing how we can make the club more accessible, welcoming and inclusive for everyone. This includes how we communicate, how we support volunteers, how we welcome new supporters, and how we represent our community.
Our Promise
The Deeside Dragons are committed to creating a club that people are proud to be part of.
Whether you are a player, parent, volunteer, supporter, sponsor, visitor, or someone coming to ice hockey for the very first time, you are welcome here.
We are Deeside Dragons. We are here for the hockey, and we are here for our community.
