SIGNED: #13 Matt Wainwright Signs through to 2027/28

The Steel 4 Structures Deeside Dragons are delighted to announce that local defenceman #13 Matt Wainwright has re-signed with the club through to 2027/28 season

Entering his 𝟏𝟒𝘁𝗵 season in Deeside. Matt continues to cement his place as one of the club’s all-time great servants. Closing in on 400 appearances, he currently sits third on the franchise’s all-time games played list and will look to continue racking up the numbers over the next two seasons.

Matt is also closing in on another significant franchise milestone. He sits just one assist behind Dragons Legend Marc Lovell for third place on the clubs all time assist list.

Matt once again proved his value during the 2025/26 campaign, registering 3 goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 25 league games. Beyond the scoresheet, his leadership and experience made him an invaluable senior presence in the dressing room.

Calm and composed with the puck, Matt’s ability to read the game allows him to control the tempo from the back end while also providing an attacking threat when the opportunity arises. His outstanding hockey IQ, consistency, and professionalism have made him a key part of the Dragons’ success year after year.

Everyone at the Dragons is thrilled to have Matt back for another two seasons and looks forward to seeing him continue adding to his remarkable legacy with the club.
