Volunteer Opportunity: Ice Hockey Team Statistician

Location: Deeside Wales

Team: Deeside Dragons IHC

Start Date: 23/08/2025

Are you passionate about ice hockey and skilled in numbers? Deeside Dragons is looking for a dedicated Team Statistician to join our backroom staff and help drive performance through data.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Track and analyse in-game and training session statistics (shots, face-offs, penalties, etc.)
2. Provide detailed reports to coaches and management
3. Maintain accurate records of player and team performance metrics
4. Assist in scouting analysis by breaking down opponent trends and strategies
5. Develop visual presentations and dashboards for data insights
6. Support strategic decision-making with evidence-based analysis

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of ice hockey rules, tactics, and terminology
• Proficient in data collection, analysis, and statistical software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, R, Python)
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation
• Ability to work under pressure during live games and post-game analysis
• Strong communication skills for presenting complex information clearly
• Previous experience in sports analytics is a plus
