Bailey Thomas Takes the Next Step
The Deeside Dragons can confirm that Bailey Thomas has signed with MK Lightning, marking the next step in what is already a very promising ice hockey career.
As a club, we are genuinely delighted for Bailey. When we first brought him into the Dragons setup, we did so fully aware of the potential he possessed. His progression was never a question of if — only when. This move is a clear reflection of the hard work, dedication, and professionalism Bailey has shown both on and off the ice.
For a player of his age, Bailey carries himself with maturity well beyond his years. He is a true professional, a relentless competitor, and a strong, intelligent player who consistently raised standards within the squad. His commitment to training, preparation, and team culture made him a pleasure to work with and an asset to the Dragons badge every time he stepped onto the ice.
Moves like this underline exactly what the Deeside Dragons stand for. We are proud to be a club that develops talent, backs ambition, and provides players with a genuine pathway to the next level. In Bailey’s case, this move reflects a natural progression based on his performances and potential, and we fully support him in taking that opportunity — while the Dragons continue to build, improve, and raise standards across all areas of the club.
It is also important to note that Bailey will remain registered with the Deeside Dragons on a two-way agreement. This means that when MK Lightning do not have a fixture, Bailey will be eligible for selection with the Dragons, allowing him to continue gaining valuable ice time while remaining part of the Deeside setup.
Everyone at the Deeside Dragons would like to thank Bailey for his contribution to the club and wish him nothing but success with MK Lightning. We will be watching his journey closely and cheering him on every step of the way.
Looking ahead, the Deeside Dragons are already working to strengthen the defensive unit and are actively exploring options to add further depth on the blue line ahead of the closure of the transfer window on 31 January 2026.
Once a Dragon, always a Dragon.
