Deeside Dragons are thrilled to announce the signing of talented defenceman Ethan Mayoh from the Blackburn Hawks for the upcoming season.
The 24-year-old from Horwich, England, arrives at Deeside having spent the majority of his senior career with the Hawks, where he became a key part of their defensive unit. Standing 5’9″, Mayoh combines strong skating with smart positional play and a good eye for the game—qualities that will no doubt bolster the Dragons’ blue line this season.
Mayoh’s hockey journey began with Manchester Phoenix U14, before developing further at the highly regarded Okanagan Hockey Academy UK, where he regularly contributed on both sides of the puck. Since moving into senior hockey, he has gained valuable experience at Swindon Wildcats 2, Altrincham Aces, and most notably, with Blackburn Hawks in NIHL 1. His recent season saw him play 34 games for the Hawks, scoring 4 goals and 9 assists for a total of 13 points, whilst continuing to build a reputation as a reliable two-way D-man.
Across his career, Mayoh has also represented U23 squad, adding international experience to his resume.

Speaking about his move to the Dragons, Ethan said:
“Having been at Hawks for my entire senior career and achieved some memorable moments there, I felt that I needed a new challenge. I would like to say how grateful and thankful I am to Blackburn Hawks and the fanbase for their trust and support.
When Deeside approached me however, I knew it was the best fit for me because I know Mike, Dave and Robyn well and know Deeside are looking to improve and build towards winning some silverware. I am looking forward to playing my part and contributing as much as I can to help reach that goal.
There are also great opportunities for me to continue to learn from players like Jake, Jared and more with their talented and experienced group.
They have good lads in the changing room, lads I have known for a long time. The fanbase at Deeside is very loyal and passionate about the club and it will be great to experience first hand. I can’t wait to get on the ice and get going. See you all soon. Ethan #12”
Head Coach Mike Clancy added:
“I’m really proud to bring Ethan Mayoh into the Dragons squad. I’ve known Ethan since he was a junior, and it’s been great to watch him develop into the player he is today. He brings energy, speed, and a real hunger to improve—qualities that fit perfectly with the culture we’re building here. Ethan’s got a bright future ahead of him, and I’m excited to see him take this next step with us.”
Ethan will wear #12 for the Dragons this season.
