The Deeside Dragons are delighted to confirm that Flame will be back with the club for the new season, bringing the energy, noise and match night chaos that fans know and love.

Every club needs a spark. At Deeside, Flame is more than just part of the match night experience. Flame is part of the atmosphere, part of the crowd, and part of what makes a night at The Den feel different.

From the moment fans walk through the doors, to the build-up before face-off, to the roar around the rink when the Dragons need that extra push, Flame is there to help turn a game night into a proper Dragons night.

With the new season getting closer, the countdown is well and truly on. The fixtures are coming, the players are getting ready, and The Den is preparing to come alive again.

A firm fan favourite, Rhys has earned his reputation through his relentless work ethic, fearless grit on the ice, and exceptional hockey IQ. The 20-year-old forward enjoyed a career best season, recording 48 points (15 goals, 33 assists)in just 31 games.

Not only does Rhys produce offensively, but he’s also renowned for his relentless, tenacious style of play. His ability to frustrate opponents, disrupt their game, and draw them into penalties and mistakes makes him one of the awkward forwards to play against.

We’re thrilled to see #5 continue his journey with us and can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.

After joining us from rivals Widnes Wild last season, Damarni made an immediate impact, making 24 appearances while recording:

Beyond the numbers, Damarni has been a complete teammate and a fantastic presence in the dressing room. His work ethic, attitude, and commitment to the jersey make him a huge part of what we’re building.

We’re thrilled to have him back in Dragons colours for another two seasons!

Fyske, 19, from Lancashire, has spent the past three years studying Sports Coaching and Performance while gaining experience working with NIHL 1 teams in performance analysis. Alongside this, she’s a coach to national level lifesavers and was the recipient of the Young Enterprise National Business Journey Award.

 This season, Fyske will also begin studying for a degree in Sports and Exercise Science with the Open University and is looking forward to continuing to develop her skills while working alongside the Dragons.

Everyone at the Dragons would like to give Fyske a warm welcome to the club, and we wish her every success for the season.

The agreement will see Curtis remain part of the Sheffield hockey pathway, with the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite League and the Sheffield Steeldogs in the National League. When not required by either Sheffield side, Curtis will ice for the Deeside Dragons, giving him the opportunity to play regular competitive hockey and continue his progression.

Should the Steelers or Steeldogs require Curtis during the season, he will remain available to return to Sheffield.

Everyone at the Dragons would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Sheffield Steelers and the Sheffield Steeldogs for the opportunity to work with such an exciting young British talent.

At just 24 years of age and standing an imposing 6ft 2in, Curtis is widely regarded as one of the brightest British goaltending prospects in the game. Having already competed at the highest level of British ice hockey, he brings quality, professionalism and a winning mentality to the Dragons roster.

Ryan, 21, stands at 6ft 3in and arrives following an outstanding season with the Buccaneers. In 12 appearances last year, he posted an impressive .943% save average, 2.29 goals-against and one shutout, leading NIHL 2 in save percentage.

Despite being just 21 years old, Ryan has already gained valuable NIHL 1 experience with both the Billingham Stars and Whitley Warriors, highlighting his potential and pedigree.

Head Coach Mike Clancy said:

“Ryan has the quality to play at a high level. His 6ft 3in stature and athleticism have made him one of the top prospects at the age of 21. The work he has done coaching the junior club in Billingham has also been noted, and I’m sure he will do similar great things with the DDJIHC. He’s a great lad and will be a positive addition to the dressing room.”

Jace impressed throughout last season, recording an 89.9% save percentage across 11 appearances while continuing to train and support the Elite League’s Manchester Storm.

Jace will be on his 4th season in Deeside and is an important member of the roster, earning him the respect of teammates and coaches alike, as well as becoming a firm favourite with the Dragons supporters.

We’re delighted to welcome Jace back for another season and look forward to seeing him continue his development.

Alan commented:- I’m pleased to join the dragons as the new equipment manager, I’m looking fwd to working alongside the current coaching staff, and to learn from them what the team requires. I’ve played senior hockey at Deeside for over 20 years, I’ve also coached at junior levels. So I’m hoping to bring my many years of experience of being around the changing room to the current squad of players. Id like the players to turn up on game days not worrying about if their equipment is ready to go, and just concentrate on giving it their all on the ice.

Rhys commented:- It’s a lot pleasure to have the opportunity to work with the dragons again this year, the club is going stength to strength, and I can’t wait to build from last year and be part of a successful club, can’t wait to be back in the packed out den and take my shirt off again.
